FAQ

Everything you want to know before getting started.

Common questions about retail training, coaching and mystery shopping programmes in Ireland, who they’re for, how they’re built, and what to expect.

01

What does Louise Lally Retail Training actually do?

Louise Lally Retail Training helps retailers improve sales, service and team performance through practical, store-focused training and coaching. Programmes focus on retail leadership, customer experience, people management and performance conversations that managers can use on the shop floor the very next day.

02

Who are your programmes designed for?

Programmes are built for retail businesses of all sizes, from single-site independents to multi-site brands. Typical participants include Store Managers, Assistant and Deputy Managers, Team Leaders and Supervisors, and area or regional leaders who want to get better results through their people rather than doing everything themselves.

03

Do you only work with fashion and high street brands?

No. The frameworks work across most retail formats: fashion, footwear, beauty, pharmacy, grocery, speciality, and service-led retail. The examples and role-plays are tailored to your sector so training feels real to your teams, not generic classroom theory.

04

How is the training delivered?

Training is delivered as a blend of live workshops (in-person or virtual), bite-sized online sessions, and practical tools managers can use in store, conversation guides, checklists, reflection prompts. Each programme is designed so managers practise real scenarios from your business, not just listen to slides. See the Team Support pillar for more on how in-store delivery works.

05

Can you customise content for our brand?

Yes. Core frameworks are tried and tested, but language, examples and scenarios are customised to your brand, policies and current priorities. That can include your values, KPIs, customer profiles and the specific difficult conversations your managers face, so the training feels like part of your business, not an off-the-shelf course.

A one-day training session fades by the following week. A capability build that happens on the shopfloor, measured by KPIs, and followed up by coaching, that stays.

06

How do we know the training will actually stick?

Every programme is built with follow-through in mind: pre-work for managers, live practice, simple after-session actions, and tools for line managers to coach and reinforce back on the job. You can build in follow-up coaching sessions to support managers as they apply what they have learned in real situations. The Ongoing Coaching pillar is designed specifically for this.

07

What results can we expect?

Results vary by business, but clients typically see improvements in conversion rate, average transaction value, customer feedback scores, staff retention, and quality of people management, fewer escalations to HR, more issues handled early in store. Before starting, we agree what success looks like and how you will measure it. You can read specific examples in the case studies.

08

How long does a typical programme run?

Introductory workshops can run as half-day or full-day sessions, while deeper leadership programmes often run over several weeks or months with spaced sessions and practical assignments in between. The structure depends on your goals, headcount, and how much time you can release managers from the floor.

09

Do you offer 1:1 coaching as well as group training?

Yes. Many retailers combine group training with 1:1 coaching for Store Managers, Area Managers or high-potential leaders. Coaching focuses on live challenges: leading change, having difficult conversations, building confidence, and turning training into consistent leadership behaviour over time.
